What AI can't do

The craft stays the craft. Nobody is replacing the guy who can eyeball a line and tell you it's two inches off.

What it can do

It does the paperwork faster, and paperwork is where small fence shops leak money:

Office jobOld wayWith a tool
QuoteHand ticket, retyped at nightItemized quote and drawing from a template or satellite tool
Follow-upWhen you rememberDay 2 and day 5 nudge drafted or sent automatically
ScheduleWhiteboard and memoryDraft board by crew and machine you then fix
LocatesSticky notes with ticket numbersTracker that flags expirations before the crew rolls

AI doesn't set posts. It gets the paperwork out of the way so the people who do can keep setting them. Photo: USCapitol via Wikimedia Commons · Public domain

Borrow from the trades that went first
